EX Desert FLAG VI

In News: The Indian Air Force is participating for the first time in Exercise Desert Flag-VI along with air forces of the United Arab Emirates, United States of America, France, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Bahrain.

  • The exercise is scheduled from 03 Mar 21 to 27 Mar 21 at Al-Dhafra air base, UAE.

About

  • Ex Desert Flag is an annual multinational large force employment warfare exercise hosted by the United Arab Emirates Air Force.
    • The IAF is participating with six Su-30 MKI, two C-17 and one IL-78 tanker aircraft.
    •  C-17 Globemaster will provide support for induction/ de-induction of the IAF contingent.
    • Su-30 MKI aircraft will undertake a long-range ferry, routing directly from India to the exercise area with aerial refuelling support from IL-78 tanker aircraft.
  • Aims: To provide operational exposure to the participating forces while training them to undertake simulated air combat operations in a controlled environment.
    • The participating forces will get an opportunity to enhance their operational capabilities along with the mutual exchange of best practices.

  •  Malabar Exercise: Navies of India, USA, and Japan.
    • Past non-permanent participants are Australia and Singapore.
  • India & US- Yudha Abhyas.
  • JIMEX: India-Japan
  • Ex-Desert Knight 21 exercise- It is a bilateral air exercise to be held between the Indian Air Force and the French air and Space Force.
  • Indra Dhanush-It is a joint air force exercise between the Indian Air Force and the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom
  • Exercise Pitch BlackIndia and Australia .
    • The main aim of the exercise is to practice Defensive Counter Air combat and Offensive Counter Air Combat
  • AUSINDEX is a bilateral naval exercise between the Indian Navy and the Australian Navy.
    • Both countries hold bilateral army exercises named  AUSTRAHIND.
  • Dharma Guardian-The joint military exercise named “Dharma Guardian” between India and Japan .
    • The exercise is aimed at developing mutual understanding and respect between militaries of both countries, as also facilitate in tracking worldwide phenomenon of terrorism
  •  Aviaindra –India and Russia joint air exercise.
  • Nomadic Elephant-India and  Mongolia joint exercise.
  • With the UAE, India has In-UAE BILAT (bilateral naval exercise) as well as Desert Eagle-II (bilateral air force exercise).
