Defence Ties between India and UAE
- Bilateral Defence Interaction between India and UAE has been steadily growing in accordance with other aspects of the bilateral relationship.
- There have been regular high level & functional level exchanges between the two countries.
- The Navy Ships of both countries have been making regular port calls for enhancing bilateral defence co-operation.
- In fact, indigenously built guided-missile destroyer INS Mysore will also be making a port call at Abu Dhabi from February 19 to February 21.
- India and the UAE had in 2017 upgraded bilateral relations to a ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’.
- This was done during the visit of Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to India as the Republic Day chief guest.
- Defence ties between the two nations were further strengthened in March 2018 as a result of joint-naval exercise GULF STAR-1.
- The second edition of this bilateral naval exercise is likely to be conducted later this year.
