- Recently, the Indian Army issued the first notification for recruitment of Agniveers under the Agnipath scheme.
About
- Registration will be opened from July 2022 onwards by respective AROs [Army Recruiting Office] for Agniveer general duty, Agniveer technical, Agniveer technical (aviation/ammunition examiner), Agniveer clerk/store keeper technical, Agniveer tradesman 10th pass and Agniveer tradesman 8th pass as per the ARO rally schedule.
- Agniveers’ rank will be distinct from any other existing rank; their insignia will also be different.
- Personnel enrolled through Agniveer Scheme, will be required to undergo periodical medical check-ups and physical/ written/ field tests as governed by orders issued and the performance so demonstrated would be considered for “subsequent offer for enrolment in the Regular Cadre.”
Other Announcements related to Agniveer
- The Ministry of Home Affairs had announced a 10% reservation for Agniveers in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles
- It also increased the upper age limit beyond the prescribed age by five years for the first batch and three years for the other upcoming Agniveer batches.
- Many central ministers and state governments including Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and corporations will give Agniveers job priorities.
- The education ministry also announced a special, three-year skill-based bachelor’s degree programme for serving defence personnel that will recognize the skill training received by Agniveers during their tenure in the defence establishments.
