Ex Cobra Warrior 22

In Context 

  • Indian Air Force will participate in a multi-nation air exercise named ‘Ex Cobra Warrior 22′ at Waddington, the UK from 06 to 27 March 2022. 

About ‘Ex Cobra Warrior 22’ 

  •  IAF Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas will participate in the exercise along with fighter aircraft of the UK and other leading Air Forces.
  • The exercise is aimed at providing operational exposure and sharing best practices amongst the participating Air Forces, thereby enhancing combat capability and forging bonds of friendship.

Other exercises 

  • Exercise Milan:
    • It is scheduled from February 25 to March 4, will see the participation of around 42 countries with ships from over 15 countries. The U.S. will be joining the exercise for the first time.
      • The theme of the MILAN 2022 exercise is ‘Camaraderie – Cohesion – Collaboration’, which aims to project India as a responsible maritime power to the world at large,
    • It is a biennial, multilateral naval exercise that started in 1995 with the participation of four countries — Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
    • It has so far been held at Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar but is now being shifted to Visakhapatnam, which offers more infrastructure as well as sea space for the exercise
  • Eastern Bridge-VI:
  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) and Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) are scheduled to participate in a bilateral exercise named Eastern Bridge-VI from 21 to 25 February 2022 at Air Force Station Jodhpur. 
  • This would be the sixth edition of the exercise. 
  • It will provide an opportunity to enhance operational capability and interoperability between the two Air Forces.
  • JIMEX: India-Japan
  • Ex-Desert Knight 21 exercise:  It is a bilateral air exercise to be held between Indian Air Force and the French air and Space Force.
  • Indra Dhanush: It is a joint air force exercise between the Indian Air Force and the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom
  • Exercise Pitch Black: India and Australia.
    • The main aim of the exercise is to practice Defensive Counter Air combat and Offensive Counter Air Combat
  • AUSINDEX: Bilateral naval exercise between the Indian Navy and the Australian Navy.
    • Both countries hold bilateral army exercises named AUSTRAHIND.
  • Dharma Guardian: The joint military exercise named “Dharma Guardian” between India and Japan.
    • The exercise is aimed at developing mutual understanding and respect between militaries of both countries, as also facilitates tracking worldwide phenomenon of terrorism.
  • Aviaindra: India and Russia joint air exercise.
  • Nomadic Elephant: India and Mongolia joint exercise.
