- Recently, INS Sumedha visited Port Klang, Malaysia during her return passage from Australia where she participated in the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
- It is a part of the Indian Navy’s long-range operational deployment in the South East Asia region.

INS Sumedha
- INS Sumedha is an indigenously built Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel deployed for multiple roles independently and in support of Fleet Operations.
- She is part of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet based at Visakhapatnam and functions under the operational command of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
- She is the third ship of the indigenous Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel (NOPV) Project to be inducted into the Indian Navy.
- The ship has been designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited.
- The primary role : to undertake EEZ surveillance, anti-piracy patrols, fleet support operations, providing maritime security to offshore assets and carry out escort operations for high value assets.
